About Phonics Bear

Established in 2017 by Annette Firth, award-winning Phonics Bear introduces children aged 2-5 years to letters and sounds through fun, interactive, play-based nursery phonics sessions that help prepare them for school.

Delivered by our growing team of franchisees, our multi-sensory programme is carefully structured around the EYFS framework and has been developed by teachers with a wealth of experience working in Early Years settings.

We teach early letters and sound recognition to toddlers & pre-school children through song, dance and crafting; as well as developing the whole child by boosting their confidence and self-esteem, fostering early team-working skills, and practising fine and gross motor skills.

But more than that, our sessions provide an encouraging, friendly atmosphere to help each child develop self-esteem, confidence, and a love of new challenges.

About phonics bear

Working in partnership with nurseries, Phonics Bear gives each child the best introduction to literacy and learning, helping them to see themselves as little learners with an “I can do anything” attitude and ready to reach for the stars!

And we work closely with local schools to ensure our classes deliver the best possible preparation for ‘big school, which makes transition easier and less daunting for little ones.

Phonics Bear is also there to help parents who may be looking for fun, learning activities that they can do at home to help with literacy skills, so we run online classes & provide lots of free phonics resources to support them in this.

We were voted Best Activity for Learning in the Hoop Awards 2019, and have received recognition from Dragons’ Den star, Theo Paphitis; as well as renowned businesswoman, Jacqueline Gold.

With a variety of classes also available for parents/carers & their little ones in soft play centres and community spaces, fun parties, and a range of holiday clubs, our mission at Phonics Bear is to change entry level attainment and grow confident little learners who are ready for school!
